Occupational Therapy

WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY (OT)?

Occupational therapy (OT) is a health profession that supports people to get back to their activities of daily living in a safe and engaging manner. Activities of daily living involve all areas in life including school, work, play, feeding, physical activity and emotional regulation to name a few.

 WHAT IS AN OT ASSESSMENT?

OT assesses through standardized tests, parent questionnaires, and clinical observations. Based on the assessment, the OT will recommend next steps and build therapy goals. Detailed reports are prepared when appropriate.

We offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions to best support your child’s needs. Therapy is specific to your child and will include direct treatment sessions or consultation with parents depending on what goals you would like to address. OT uses the following treatment modalities:

o  Handwriting Without Tears

o The Zones of Regulation

o   How does your engine run: Alert Program

o   Sensory Integration

o   Social Thinking

o   Feeding SOS

o   DIR Floortime
