Dr. Sharry Shakory, C.Psych. (Supervised Practice) (She/Her)

Welcome! I am a Psychologist in Supervised Practice, registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in Clinical and School Psychology. My primary area of practice is child and adolescent assessment and treatment.

I feel honored when children, adolescents, and their families invite me to be a part of their journey. I bring my authentic self into each session, always striving to maintain a space that is safe, accepting, and inclusive. I work from a strengths-based lens and my style is compassionate, direct, and collaborative.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and flexible, grounded in evidence-based practices. I draw from my extensive training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), tailoring my approach to meet the specific needs and goals of the individuals I work with. I also provide comprehensive psychological assessment services for children and adolescents. Through these assessments, I aim to assist those who I work with to find answers to their questions about learning, developmental, and socioemotional challenges. Additionally, I provide consultation services for parents, offering valuable insights and practical tools to help them navigate the challenges and concerns they are facing.

A bit about my background: I earned a PhD in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. My research has primarily centered on understanding reading development and reading difficulties in children learning a second language, with a particular focus on the French immersion context. With respect to my clinical experience, I have had the privilege of working with children and adolescents facing a wide range of mental health and neurodevelopmental challenges. This experience spans diverse settings, including schools, hospitals, and community-based mental health agencies.

Outside of my professional life, I have a deep love for the outdoors. Whether it's hiking a challenging trail or enjoying a peaceful walk in the park with my dog, I find joy in nature’s beauty. Traveling is another passion of mine—I'm always excited to explore new places, immerse myself in different cultures, and savor the diverse cuisines each region has to offer.
